Iain Stirling is a Scottish stand-up comedian, writer and television presenter who acts as the resident voice-over artist for reality dating show Love Island.

He provides the endlessly funny, and sometimes quite cutting, remarks every episode as audiences watch the drama unfold.

He started his career as a CBBC presenter in 2009 alongside his puppet sidekick Hacker the Dog, and presented children’s programmes All Over the Place and panel show The Dog Ate My Homework, which won him a Children’s BAFTA in 2017.

Stirling started narrating Love Island on ITV2 in 2015, which raised his public profile as the show grew in popularity. He went on to compete in the eighth season of Taskmaster on Dave and presented the ITV2 game show CelebAbility, which sees a team of famous faces take on members of the public in a series of challenges.

In 2019, Stirling released a book, Not F**king Ready to Adult, while in 2021, his scripted comedy Buffering aired on ITV2.

In 2023, Iain Stirling had a busy year full of Love Island. As well as narrating the winter season and summer season, he narrated Peacock's Love Island Games, which saw Justine Ndiba and Jack Fowler take the crown.

He returned earlier this year for the All Stars version of Love Island, which was won by Molly Smith and Tom Clare.

Where have I seen Iain Stirling before?

In addition to his CBBC tenure, Iain has appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show, The Russell Howard Hour and Sky One's Comedians Watching Football with Friends.

He was one of six comedians to feature on Comedy Central's Comedy Bus, a series where each episode, one comic takes the others back to their hometown – which for Stirling is Edinburgh.

He has appeared as a guest on various episodes of Love Island: Aftersun – the reality series's sister show.

How long has Iain Stirling been the narrator on Love Island?

Stirling has narrated Love Island since its first season in 2015. He did not narrate the 2005 version of the show, which was presented by Patrick Kielty, Kelly Brook and Fearne Cotton, and was cancelled after two seasons.

Caroline Flack presented the first five seasons of Love Island, starting in 2015. She stepped down in December 2019 and sadly passed away in February 2020.

Stirling's wife Laura Whitmore hosted the winter season in Cape Town, and stepped back from the role in 2022.

Stirling has been dating Irish radio and TV presenter Laura Whitmore officially since August 2017. The couple have lived together in their North London home since December 2018 and share a dog named Mick.

They tied the knot in a low-key ceremony in late 2020 and became parents to their first child together the following year.

Whitmore previously presented season 11 of I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp and took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2016. She presented her own show on BBC Radio 5 Live until last year.

Whitmore was the host of Love Island from 2020 until 2022, when she announced that she would be leaving the show, and was eventually replaced by Maya Jama.

Love Island returns on Monday 3rd June at 9pm on ITV1, ITV2, ITVX, STV and STV Player.

Seasons 1-10 are available to watch on ITVX. You can watch all previous seasons of Love Island on BritBox – you can sign up for a 7-day free trial.
